Evolution Club Cyprus - Regina Interview
She is definitely not the type of the ordinary woman. She loves speed; she loves the smell of the burning tyres on the racing track. You may meet her on a red traffic light while cruising around Limassol inside her beautiful EVO but if you do meet her do not try to race her… because you won’t stand a chance! :)
Her name is Regina and she is the president of the Evolution club in Cyprus and she is by far a worthy and a great representative of the club.
Q. When was the Evolution Club created?
A. It was created in 2007
Q. How was the idea of the EVO club came up?
A. Well few Limassol evo friends wanted to make this a team since evos were starting to rule into the island. And at that time I got in that team as a member of the board.
Q. How many members / cars are now registered to your club?
A. Every year we have new registrations and re-registration of existing members. So by far we have over 90 evos for this year as members, excluding the fans.
Q. How often do you meet as a club and what kind of events you are attending? (e.g. Drives, Achna speedway and so on)
A. The last 2 years we are the most power car club in the island with difference and this you can see it from, the first time attack charity race against drugs that we organised last year on 26th of June 2011 (world day against drugs) in Daytona raceway between Evo and Subaru with big success, out track days at Achna Speedway last year and this year also with big success, Also approximately every 2 months we have organized drives as a club.
Q. Rigina what was the first car you owned?
A. I hope evo m embers won’t see this...but it was a Honda civic Type R 1997 from the first came to Cyprus then :D After that evos came along..evo 3 then evo 6 and again my eva now.
Q. When and what was your first driving experience with an EVO that made you realize that you are an EVO fanatic?
A. 9 years back when I was driving an evo 3 VR4 and a big guy with a Skyline GTR r33 stooped next to me at the traffic lights of Omonia avenue and he talked bad to me without knowing me and underestimate me cause I was driving an evo 3 ....i won’t tell you the further details of what happened i think you understood quite well...after that I was sure that...turbo was in my blood 4g63 was in me :D
Q. How often do people see you at a red traffic light and try to race you?
A. Oh very often believe me...sometimes I wonder, but I don’t mind I just go for my ride and pleasure safe in the busy traffic roads of the town, I don’t mess with peoples safety there.
Q. What is your dream car?
A. My dream car?....was my EVA ,i wanted to own my personal evo 3 original for years now I couldn’t believe I would find one but last year I did :D...
Q. If you HAD TO give up your EVO and exchange it with something else what that car will be?
A.I would never give up my EVA she is my best friend now...but I have some serious thoughts for a second street race car....but it’s not a SHE of course...it’s a HE ...GTR R34 Midnight purple colour....and I am done ! J
Q. Its known that you have been to Achna Speedway several times. Did you race your car in a time attack? If yes will you share your time with us?
A. hehe i tried 2 laps to check my eva’s set up. But I saw she need work to fill up my needs in that track. Although we have done a 1, 28 with half round slow and half speed J but eva is not for race track she is going to be taken care of to stay alive longer since she is a special evo piece.
Q. What was the fastest speed you have ever experienced and with kind of engine?
A. In a Skyline of 700hp years back as I remember 280km, it was kind of scary I don’t like sitting co-driver at all. hehe
Q. What do you think that we are missing here in Cyprus for the people who love speed and racing?
A. A proper 400meters DRAG road and a better system ruling motorsport, I won’t mentioned the police here it’s a big story, for which is good to mentioned that years back I took the initiative to register evo club in parliament and going there along with Toyota club fighting for the wrights of street race cars and legal modifications on street cars to be allowed..Something that took me 2 years of research and fighting with the government and police but finally we did it and as a result we have managed to get a modification in the law section for upgrading street vehicles.
Q. Did you ever tried to drift?
A.hehehe with EVA sometimes but i prefer Time attack and drag!
Q. If one of the best mechanics in the world offered to you to upgrade your EVO to reach double or even triple the horse power you currently have and for exchange you will have to dye your hair blonde will you do it?
A.NO WAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Q. What requirements do you have so someone could join the EVO club?

He or she must be over 18 years with a legal driving licence, pay once a year the fee of 30 euros for registration getting the benefits as a members then including in this are discounts from shops including our main supporter Fairways Group and the t-shirt and member card of the club. We also register fans not having evo just lovers of evos.
